My Best Friend's Wedding

Scottish Wedding

“A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise. Our soulmate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we’re two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we’ve found the right person. Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life. ” — Richard Bach

On the first weekend of July, I had the honour of being a bridesmaid for one of my dearest friends, Heather. Her and Andy really were made for each other, and it's when you see a love like this that I think of the opening quote from Richard Bach. Umm, I'm not crying, that's just the fake eyelashes irritating my eyes...

Being by Heather's side on the lead up to the wedding until the very day its self was an absolute joy! All the crafting, organising and planning was so much fun and it's made me pretty excited at the thought of my own wedding too. We stayed over at Heather's Mum's house the night before, and started off the day with breakfast and fizz while the hair and makeup artists arrived to work their magic. Our friend Lana from Cameo Bridal Styling did the hair, which I was still rocking well into Sunday afternoon because I didn't wanna take those curls out!

I know I am probably slightly biased... but Heather is genuinely one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen. It was such a magical moment watching her walk down the stairs in her parents house, us all seeing her in her dress for the first time before we were whisked off to the venue. SO MANY TEARS. What would we do without waterproof mascara?! Seeing Heather's Dad get emotional really tugged on my heart strings too. There's something so special about the father of the bride in particular, seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time which you just can't put into words.

So many elements of the wedding were lovingly made by hand from Heather, her friends and family. From the invites (made my yours truly) right down to the flowers which we were arranging in her Mum's kitchen the night before. Seeing it all come together was so damn rewarding, and I would do it all again in a heart beat. I have a real love/hate relationship with Pinterest as it can be quite overwhelming especially when it comes to wedding ideas and what's achievable depending on your time and budget. But Heather had a clear idea of what she wanted and everything came together even better than we had planned.

As a wedding gift to Heather and Andy, a small group of us chipped together to hire her a Look Look Photobooth, which came with a booth butler, a crate full of props, and we requested the silver sparkly background to match the rest of her wedding decor at The Tontine Hotel. The pictures turned out really well and are a lovely memento of the day. The sneak peeks we have seen from her photographer Neil Thomas Douglas (credit for the 1st photo in this post) are looking absolutely insane too, he is one crazy talented guy. I'll probably start crying all over again when I see them, and the footage from her videographer. Even just writing this post makes my heart feel so full that it could burst (more of my friends need to get married soon, plz) In conclusion, weddings are awesome! Love is awesome! Soul mates, soul companions and life partners can come in so many different shapes and forms. It might be a lover, or a friend, or your best friend. Whenever you feel that connection with someone, hold them close and cherish that relationship as much as you possibly can ♥
